About Medical Meditations
Integrative medicine involves conventional and alternative therapies to prevent and treat disease, promoting overall health and well-being. Medical Meditation, part of this modality, is a complementary healing approach that focuses on the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. The practice uses focused mental clarity with the intent to overcome a specific medical condition to promote optimal health.
From a very young age, I’ve understood that my purpose is to help people on their own path of healing and empowerment. Thirty years ago, my dad survived a 100 foot fall while hang gliding. Since then I have helped him recover. In fact, He is the reason I entered the health care field twenty-two years ago. Now my dad is 86-years-old, fully enjoying life and even walking daily intent to live healthy and strong. It has been thirty years since he sustained a traumatic brain injury, but unbelievably he has not had to use medication. Because he has been meditating for years, he feels satisfied and at peace.
According to the American Medical Association, stress is the number one cause of illness. Meditation is the key to unlocking imbalances in our body and is even proven to reduce stress. With medical meditation, I personalize the meditations to concentrate on one of the many dimensions of wellness: Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, Intellectual, Environmental, and Social, ultimately creating a sense of wholeness and health. I believe now is the time to use Eastern and Western medicine together to achieve desired goals and finally live life to the fullest. Energy work, such as Reiki and/or medical meditation, is an effective way to work hand-in-hand with traditional medicine. When addressing the mind, body and spirit, prevention is key. Reiki and prescribed meditations can provide this prevention and—not only that—aid in treatment!
